How To: 5 Ways To Become a Morning Person

If you'd ask me a month ago, I would say getting up early in the morning isn't my thing and I'm sure I ain't the only one. When I was still in high school my classes always started early and I was forced to get up early every day. Now that I am in Uni I sometimes have a day off and then I need to go to a class that starts at eleven in the morning or even worse- sometimes I just skip classes because I can't make myself to get up. Laziness needed to be stopped if I wanted to make myself more productive and use every bit of the day to do something efficient. 

#1 - Set an alarm clock. 
If you're planning to become a morning person that means you can't keep going to bed at two or four a.m. Set your alarm at six or seven a.m. and go to bed early. No joking, but I found out that I prefer going to bed at ten or eleven o'clock. That's why getting up early shouldn't be difficult for me, right? Well, we will dive into the next tip because problems start when you ACTUALLY need to get up...

#2 - Keep a 'first-aid kit' for a better awakening. 
It's incredibly easy to hit that snooze button when you hear annoying sound that ruined your dreams. That time from opening your eyes and setting the alarm off to turning in your bed and closing your eyes is very short. We usually want to turn the alarm off quickly so our sleeping mood stays untouched and we can get back to bed. Crucial thing here is to prolong that moment. Have a few things around your bed. Keep a glass of water next to you and drink it whole before you hit the snooze button. I personally like to keep an eye roll-on creme because I like to apply it around my eyes because of its cool applicator (roll-on) that instantly pops my eyes open. It's also great if you have your phone somewhere around unless your alarm clock is an actual phone. When you wake up, turn a game on or go check social media. And when you finally get up: turn some music with a good beat on. Who wouldn't like to get ready in such good spirits? 


#3 - Plan excited things for the morning. 
I first wanted to write 'plan important things' but that can be stressful and can have the opposite effect. Surely, getting the biggest things out of the way first is great but those can wait an hour or two. We are talking about how to get up easily now. Think about delicious breakfast you said you're going to make it this morning or think about that new Lush bath bomb (or any new beauty product) you finally get to try out. 


#4 - Get up slowly. 
Now that you are awake, don't rush into getting up. Make it a routine like you have an evening routine. Take time when stretching. That always gets me out of bed and your body and brain take it as a wake up call. Then, seat up in your bed and meditate or do some light exercising for your arms, shoulders, neck etc. You will not only be awake, you will feel instantly better. 

#5 - Keep it up. 
When you find your perfect routine, try to keep it up for at least three weeks. You will get used to it and after three weeks your routine will appear very naturally and you will love it. No struggling and complaining but something you're embracing as a new part of the day.

Če bi me vprašala mesec dni nazaj, bi rekla, da zgodnje vstajanje ni moja stvar in prepričana sem, da nisem edina. Ko sem bila v srednji šoli, se je pouk vedno začel zgodaj in prisiljena sem bila vstajati ob določeni uri. Zdaj, ko sem na fakulteti imam včasih prost dan, včasih se mi predavanje začne ob enajstih zjutraj ali pa se kdaj odločim, da se kakšen dan sploh ne spravim ven. Lenoba ni smela trajati dolgo, če sem želela biti bolj produktivna in čim bolj izkoristiti dan. 

#1 - Navij uro. 
Če načrtuješ postati jutranja oseba, to pomeni, da moraš iti prej spati. Ugotovila sem, da raje hodim ob desetih ali enajstih spati, kot da se trudim biti nočna ptica. Zgodnje vstajanje potem ne bi smelo biti težko zame, kajne? Šli bomo kar na naslednjo točko, kjer je dejansko potrebno vstati...


#2 - Ob sebi imej 'prvo pomoč'za lažje prebujanje. 
Neverjetno lahko je pritisniti gumb za dremež, ko slišiš nadležno melodijo, ki te je prebudila iz sna. Tisti čas, ko odpreš oči in ugasneš alarm do takrat, ko se obrneš v postelji in zapreš oči, je zelo kratek. Ponavadi želimo čimprej ugasniti uro, da ne bi zmotili našega zaspanega razpoloženja. Pomembna stvar tukaj je, da podaljšujemo ta trenutek kolikor je možno. Imej nekaj stvari zraven sebe. Na primer, spij kozarec vode še preden klikneš gumb za dremež. Jaz osebno imam zraven kremo za oči z roll-on aplikatorjem, saj je tisti splikator mrzel in se oči hitro odprejo. Ni slabo imeti telefon nekje okoli, razen če ga uporabljaš za budilko. Ko se zbudiš, prižgi igro ali pa preveri socialna omrežja. In ko končno vstaneš: prižgi glasbo z dobrim ritmom. Kdo se nerad pripravlja ob takem vzdušju? 


#3 - Planiraj zanimive stvari za zjutraj. 
Najprej sem želela napisati 'planiraj pomembne stvari', ampak te so lahko stresne in imajo nasproten učinek. Težkih stvari se je resda bolje rešiti najprej, vendar te lahko preložimo za kakšno uro ali dve. Sedaj smo pri prebujanju. Pomisli raje na okusen zajtrk katerega si pred kratkim načrtovala ali pa o novi Lush kopalni kroglici (ali kateremkoli novem izdelku), ki jo končno lahko preizkusiš. 


#4 - Vstani počasi. 
Zdaj, ko si zbujena, ne hiti vstati. Naredi nekakšno rutino, kot jo imaš zvečer. Vzemi si čas, ko se raztezaš. To me vedno spravi iz postelje in telo in um bosta to vzela kot klic za vstajanje. Nato se lahko usedeš v postelji in meditiraš ali pa narediš nekaj lahkih vaj za raztezanje rok, ramen, vratu itn. Ne samo, da boš zbujena, počutila se boš veliko bolje. 

#5 - Bodi vztrajna. 
Enkrat, ko najdeš svojo rutino, jo skušaj ponavljati vsaj tri tedne. Navadila se boš nanjo in po treh tednih ti bo delovala naravno in neprisiljeno. Nič več ne bo borbe in pritoževanja, ampak nekaj, kar boš sprejemala kot novi del dneva. 

Ali imaš kakšen svoj nasvet glede lažjega jutranjega vstajanja?

Da me pitaš mesec dana pre, rekla bi da rano ustajanje nije moja stvar i sigurna sam, da nisam jedina. Kad sam još bila u srednoj školi, časovi su uvek počeli rano pa sam bila prisiljena ustajati rano. Sad, kad sam na fakulteti imam nekad slobodan dan, nekad počnem u jedanest ujutru a nekad propustim koju lekturu. Ljenost nije smela trajati dugo, ako sam htela biti produktivna i što više iskoristiti dan.

#1 - Navij sat. 
Ako planiraš postati jutarnja osoba, to znači, da moraš iti spavati ranije. Saznala sam, da radije idem spavati u deset ili jedanest nego da se trudim biti noćna ptica. Rano ustajanje mi onda ne bi smelo biti teško, zar ne? Da idemo na sledeću tačku gde je zapravo treba ustati...

#2 - Pored sebe imaj 'prvu pomoć' za lakše budjenje. 
Neverovatno lako je stisniti 'snooze' dugme kada čuješ melodiju koja te je prebudila iz sna. Vreme, koje traje dok otvoriš oči i ugasneš alarm do tad, kad se okreneš u krevetu i zatvoriš oči, je veoma kratak. Želimo, da isklopimo alarm što pre, da ne uznemirimo naše raspoloženje za spavanje. Bitna stvar ovde je, da produžujemo taj moment koliko god možemo. Imaj nekoliko stvari pored sebe. Na primer, popij čašu vode pre nego ugasneš alarm. Ja osobno imam uz sebe kremu za oči s roll-on aplikatorom pošto je taj aplikator hladan i oči mi se brzo otvore. Nije slabo imati telefon negde oko sebe, osim ako ti je telefon alarm. Kad se probudiš, igraj neku igricu ili pregledaj socijalne mreže. I kad konačno ustaneš: upali muziku sa dobrim ritmom. Ko se nerado sprema uz takvu atmosferu?

#3 - Planiraj zanimljive stvari za ujutru. 
Prvo sam htela napisati 'planiraj bitne stvari' ali te mogu da budu stresne i imaju suprotni efekat. Teških stvari se je bolje rešiti što pre, ali to možemo da odložimo za koji sat ili dva. Sada smo još uvek kod budjenja. Radije pomisli na ukusan doručak ili kako možeš konačno isprobati novu Lush kupku (ili bilo koji novi proizvod).

#4 - Ustani polako. 
Sada kad si probudjena, ne žuri ustajati. Napravi nekakvu rutinu sličnu onoj koju imaš pre spavanja. Uzmi si vreme kada se rastezaš. Telo i um si to uzmu kao poziv za budjenje. Onda možeš da sedneš u krevetu i meditiraš ili napraviš nekoliko laganih vežba za rastezanje ruku, ramena, vrata itd. Nećeš se osećati samo probudjeno, osećati ćeš se mnogo bolje.

#5 - Budi uporna. 
Kada nadješ svoju rutinu, pokušaj da se je držiš bar tri sedmice. Naviknuti ćeš se nanju i posle tri sedmice, činiti će ti se prirodno i neprisiljeno. Neće biti više borbe i žaljenja, nego nešta što ćeš primati kao novi deo dana.

  4. Odlično napisano, ja se obično budim i prije budilice kad mi je nešto važno u pitanju, jedino mi je teško kad je vani hladno ili kišno, onda se na jedvite jade izvučem iz kreveta.

  6. I totally agree with #4. Waking up slowly always leads to happier mornings too! Taking that time to stretch or relax a bit before your day starts makes life much less stressful.

  23. V času srednje šole in faksa nisem imela problemov z jutranjim ustajanjem, sedaj pa če ne grem do 22h max 23h spat in ne spim 8h, je zjutraj velik problem. Saj vstanem, ker moram zaradi službe, ampak sem cel dan čudna in me popoldne začne bolet glava, tako da skušam vsaj med tednom imeti neko rutino in se po 21h že pripravljam na posteljo, da do 22h sem v njej in ob 6h zjutraj kot nova :)
